IMPEDANZ
DescriptionThis project is based on sensor recordings at the installations of a nuclear power plant near Stuttgart. These recordings were performed primarily at the piping system using accelerometers (vibration sensors). The information was then encoded as a 2 channel audio stream. The recordings are used to drive a speaker system connected to 2 shallow water basins at which light is being projected. The movements in the water generate interference patterns in the light beams which are projected to a screen. By transporting the vibrations into the installation space in the form of an interferometer it is possible to tune into the small variations within the sensor stream and make the presence of the recorded machinery tactile.
