El pulso de lo inmovil
The piece is constructed as a constant zoom. Each measure represents a fraction of the previous one, enlarged to the original size. The duration of each measure is fixed: five seconds. The gain in resolution in each iteration reveals new aspects of the material while the edges of the source measure are left behind. The opposition of these two forces (resolution versus context) brings to the foreground the act of observation itself: the frame. At a given iteration the maximum resolution is achieved: from there on new iterations do not reveal more details but merely separate the atoms from each other. Eventually only one pulse is left, at the center of the frame, making the process conceptually cyclical.
